My good buddy, backcountry and mountain bike partner passed on Wends, 1/27/09 in the Meadow Chutes in Big Cottonwood.  Friends for the past 25+ years.  Not enough good things can be said about this man.  I will miss you dearly Rico.

Pine Cone Ridge

Skiing in Jupiter Bowl went from really good the past few days to lousy.  Set up crud.  Pine Cone Ridge opened and it was great until today. Got skied to death the last two days.

Nothing significant storms on the horizon alas.....

Slow Day

Warm and drizzly morning in Park City this morning, Jam. 6th.  Went to work on Main St.  Quiet too

It was slow at work so I scooted out to ski a few runs at PCMR.  It was a major whiteout at the mid-elevations:

Couldn't see a thing and windy!!  Then I got up to Jupiter and got above the clouds.  Windy, broken clouds, vibrancy abounds.  Walked the upper West Face traverse and got four good shots on wind scoured but creamy supportable.  Really nice.  Nice and quiet, no one hiking but me.  Got down to main part of resort and it was crowded! 

I forgot my camera but it looked just like my bedroom wall.............

Wasatch Backcountry

Beautiful day in the Wasatch backcountry. Jan. 3, 2010.

Great weather, crappy snow up high but better skiing at mid-elevation.

Hhiked with a friend from Baja.  Hikes with no shirt.   Puts a waterproof shell over skin.  He is a surfer so I guess it is just like a wetsuit.

Four Letter Word

Here is that four letter word we all like seeing!  OPEN!

January 1, 2010.  PCMR opened Jupiter Peak.  Plenty of rocks, thin snow pack, but nice to get out. 

Empty up in Jupiter but busy elsewhwere.

But not like the usual  for New Years weekend!!  Slow.  Never thought we'd actually welcome lots of crowds but it sure hits home our economy is dependent on destination skiers.
